Eleanor F White Mediator. EF White Mediation.

Experience, Resolve, & Success

Throughout many aspects of my working life, I found that the ability to resolve disputes was a valuable asset. Through training and practice over the last 7 years I’ve also found mediation to be a strength of mine. It’s worth the effort.

EF White Mediation

Eleanor F. White has worn a number of hats over the years that required the ability to bring people together in problem-solving, but she became formally involved with mediation in 2014, when appointed as an adjudicator to the provincial Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT), hearing matters under various legislations. During that time, the emphasis shifted more heavily to pre-hearing processes of settlement. At that point, she started training with Stitt, Feld & Handy, then continued with Osgoode training courses.

For the last five years, Eleanor has been appointed to the division of the LAT dealing with disputes between insureds and insurers regarding accident benefits, following automobile accidents. Eleanor has handled thousands of files in the last five years, working with the parties to resolve some or all of the issues in dispute in a significant percentage of the matters. She has been active in formal dispute resolution, using standard mediation techniques, again in a significant number of the more complicated files, usually involving serious injury.

Why Select Eleanor as Your Mediator

Experience

As mentioned above, Eleanor has had a varied work background. For 34 years, while involved in several interests, she was known as Dr. Eleanor White, Chiropractor, in Markham. She began as a full-time practitioner but soon became involved in injury assessment work and concurrently served on her profession’s associations; provincially and finally as President, then Chair of the national association.

Her involvement with administrative tribunals started in 2006 and she has found that her background in patient care, small business, association work, policy and advocacy, injury assessment and international health has provided a broad perspective when assisting parties in mediation, particularly in injury, health or professional matters.

Years of expertise with the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS), the Insurance Act and the Regulated Health Professions Act (during her 20 years of association work)

Eleanor has served as a case conference adjudicator and settlement adjudicator on several matters that I had before the LAT. I found her to be entirely goal oriented yet compassionate to my client while maintaining her professionalism and integrity. While acting as a Vice Chair, I found her decisions to be pragmatic, balanced, easy to comprehend, yet thorough and detailed.

As a settlement adjudicator, Eleanor was able to reframe the issues, have a practical discussion about risks and was very skillful in bringing the parties to a resolution. She has exceptional knowledge of the SABS and was very informed on the state of the law and developments in case law. She has the benefit of years of experience at the LAT which will most certainly add great insight for both parties in a mediation.

Every time we appeared before her, I had confidence that she was going to understand and appreciate the issues and be able to bring the parties to a resolution. At the end of the day, that is the objective of mediations and I would highly recommend Eleanor to anyone attempting to resolve an accident benefit matter as she most certainly will add helpful insight to the discussion and bring the parties to a level of understanding and resolution.

I have worked with Eleanor White for many years. She is always well prepared and understands the issues inside and out. She brings a special perspective to personal injury cases due to her medical background. She is tenacious but fair, listens but directs the parties to think outside the box to effect a reasonable settlement. I highly recommend Eleanor as a mediator or arbitrator.
